Cross-Pollination of Fan Bases a Big Goal of the New ESports Startup Players Ntwrk

Something you hear a lot at this strange point in history is “We’re all in this together.”

With that in mind, a new gaming platform is looking to unite eSports players from around the globe. And the 99 percent among us will be thrilled that the 1 percent will be featured stars of the online hub.

Players Ntwrk is a Los Angeles-based startup with a mission to connect celebrities with fans through eSports, gaming, and music. The company founder is Stratton Sclavos, whose past endeavours include Vision Esports and a stint as CEO of the San Jose Sharks.

High-profile, video-game-obsessed talent that has signed on includes the NBA’s De’Aaron Fox, the NFL’s Jarvis Landry, Canadian urban-music hotshot PartyNextDoor, and celebrity streamers KatGunn, CashNasty, and DenkOps.

The plan is to have that talent pool—dubbed the First Squad—create original content under one umbrella. That content, including gaming, performances, and unscripted series, will be broadcast on Twitch and encourage fans and stars to interact.

One of Players Ntwrk’s big goals is to foster cross-pollination of audiences. Fans of First Squad member Murda Beatz might hop on Twitch and then discover they like what Octane and New Orleans Saint Alvin Kamara has to offer.

“Fans will be able to interact, play against and discover other fans from overlapping fandoms they didn’t know existed,” Players Ntwrk said in a press release.

Programming will debut today with a COVID-19 charity livestream on Twitch at 5 p.m. PST. Additional content will roll out on Friday and Saturday (April 17 and 18).
