Esports Entertainment Group forges Hard Rock union in new esports wagering venture
Convinced that you’re the GOAT when it comes to esports? So sure of your own skills that you’d wager the deed to your condo, house, or Airstream trailer and then climb into the ring for some head-to-head competition? If so, then a new esports wagering even has your name written all over it. The Esports Entertainment Group (EEG) has teamed up with the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City for the first sanctioned, skills-based esports wagering event on American soil.
This January 22-23 an estimated 256 players will descend on the Hard Rock for am in-person mega-event celebrating the roll out of LANDuel, an EEG wagering platform that enables players to bet that they are better than their fellow players.
Using LANDuel, players will bet against other players in matches as they try to climb the ladder to the finals. Those who prefer to watch—there’s going to be spectator seating on-site—will also be able to wager on matches taking place during the event.
In a press release, Esports Entertainment Group CEO Grant Johnson said, “We are extremely excited to partner with one of the top global hotel and casino venues to kickstart the world of regulated peer to peer wagering in esports. This partnership and event are a tremendous accomplishment for our brand and creates a wide variety of opportunities for our groups to explore more innovative esports events.”
The hope is that the Esports Entertainment Group (EEG) and Hard Rock tournament will help pave the way for ongoing esports betting events at the casino, as well as establishing the viability of a permanent space for those events.
As for you, the hope is that you send up with a second home after proving that you are indeed the GOAT. Instead of, you know, having to move to a cardboard box down by the river because you’ve just wagered, and lost, everything you own.
