GearHead: 100 Thieves’ 2020 Bred Jersey sells out before the pre-order deadline

100 Thieves

When you’re hot, you’re hot. And if there’s one thing 100 Thieves knows how to do, it’s turn the heat up on demand for its merch. (100T is also skilled at building up hype without actually winning. For that, we can probably thank celebrity investors and co-owners like Drake and Scooter Braun.)

100 Thieves fans were so amped-up by the opportunity to get a piece of the action that the brand’s latest merch drop sold out before it had even hit its pre-order deadline. That deadline was today (August 13), but 100 Thieves broke the news on Twitter yesterday.

“Due to an unexpectedly high volume of pre-orders for our 2020 Bred Jersey, our manufacturing factory is unable to handle any additional orders and we have closed pre-orders at this time,” the Tweet read. “We appreciate your understanding and thank you all so much for the overwhelming support!”

What you missed

So, that’s that. Assuming you missed out on the 2020 Bred Jersey—which is a safe assumption—what exactly did you miss?

Well, this:

Here are the stats, according to the 100 Thieves merch store:

  • KNIT POLY-DRY MESH FABRIC SHORT SLEEVE JERSEY
  • SUBLIMATED NON-FADE “THIEVES” LOGO ACROSS CHEST
  • TONAL SUBLIMATED PARTNER LOGOS THROUGHOUT
  • #20 SUBLIMATED TEAM NUMBER
  • ALL-OVER CUSTOM “INTERFERENCE” PATTERN
  • WOVEN TEAM PATCH AT BOTTOM HEM
  • ATHLETIC POLY NECKBAND AND CUFFS
  • REGULAR FIT
  • MADE IN THE USA

Put simply, it’s a black T-shirt with red lettering and a bunch of corporate logos on it. But it is what all of 100 Thieves’ teams will be wearing this season. That means you’ll get to see the Bred Jersey in action at the LCS Summer Playoffs, which start this week.

Is it high fashion? No.

Will it make those who wear it the envy of all of those who tried but failed to order their own? Bingo!

And that, in a nutshell, is what 100 Thieves does best.

I have done a lot of different things over the course of my life and professional career. I have interviewed Oscar and Grammy winners and written cover stories for glossy newsstand magazines. I have played guitar in a rock band on national TV and run an independent music label for which I wrote all of the PR and marketing materials. In my spare time, I sweated out a novel about a world where raccoons are kings and dragons are real.
