LEC’s new Summer Split toothpaste will give esports fans something to smile about
You don't have to brush twice a week, but you just might want to.
As a commercial for a brand of toothpaste that may or may not exist, it might just be the greatest gift to the world since the straight-outta-England clip for Hedley & Wyche.
To promote its Summer Split in regions around the globe, League of Legends has unleashed a video to shine a light on good dental hygiene. Side benefits include helping gamers and ESports fans wash away the bad taste of colossal losses.
The LEC toothpaste commercial stars Fnatic’s Gabriel “Bwipo” Rau and Zdravets “Hylissang” Galabov, along with a bespectacled hygienist (actually LEC host Sjokz).
Things start out with Bwipo and Hylissang sitting on a couch, watching a horrific replay of their 3-0 thrashing at the hands of G2 Esports in the 2020 Spring Split finals.
After mining for food fragments of meals gone by and doing a breath check that suggests an advanced case of halitosis, the two shift to the sink, where they brush away like they’re auditioning for campaigns with Crest, Colgate, and Aqua-Fresh.
In the background, the hygienist cheerily suggests that esports fans need to be changing brands.
“LEC’s incredible power comes from its deep talent pool and world-class competition, helping you feel good through every moment of your day,” she intones. “Use LEC just two times a week, and watch your teeth go from Iron 4 and whining to Challenger and shining.”
Two times a week? That’s one time a week more than the suggested brushing schedule for Hedley & Wyche, which must mean that LEC toothpaste is infinitely superior.
The 2020 LEC Summer Split launches June 12 at 9 a.m. PST with the Mad Lions taking on G2 Esports. The event marks a welcome return to action after the cancellation of the 2020 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational.
