Ninja Gets Ready to Push Boundaries on Mixer with a Fortnite Series Featuring The Best of The Best

Get ready to watch the elite of the elite go to war in a Fortnite tournament where superstar Tyler “Ninja” Blevins is the unofficial ringmaster.

On May 28, Microsoft’s upstart Mixer platform begins hosting a new live series in which the planet’s top Fortnite players will fight for a prize pool of US$400,000. The six-week tournament, dubbed Ninja Battles Featuring Fortnite, will see participants battling from the safety of their own homes, with episodes airing on Ninja’s Mixer channel.

Those who’ve signed on include Fortnite World Cup winner Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf and YouTube streaming star Nicholas “NickEh30” Amyoony. Fans can also watch for Soleil “EwOk” Wheeler, Nate Hill, and Malachi “Reverse2k” Greiner.

The series is Ninja’s first for Mixer since he left Twitch to sign an exclusive streaming deal with the Microsoft platform. Mixer was set up to grab a piece of a massive streaming market dominated by giants like YouTube and the Amazon-owned Twitch. The signing of established players like Ninja and Shroud was seen as a street-cred-focused way to boost Mixer’s profile.

“I joined Mixer to push boundaries, create different types of streaming content and interact with fans in new ways,” Ninja said in a press release announcing the competition. “Ninja Battles brings a new kind of gameplay to the community. I am excited to share this competitive experience with my fans, as well as have my fellow gamers and friends participate.”

Ninja Battles Featuring Fortnite will air every Thursday at noon PST.
