Riot Games rolls out cosmetic rewards to help celebrate Pride Month

Get ready to show your pride, and not just for being a proud member of the esports community. Riot Games has announced a new round of in-game cosmetic rewards as a way to help celebrate Pride Month. You can load up starting May 17, and then continue to stockpile goodies until the end of June.

Specially designed to help celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, the items will be available across a whole host of games. This marks the first time that Riot has made Pride Month part of all the titles under its umbrella.

The games that will be included in the event include Teamfight Tactics, League of Legends Wild Rift, League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra, and the wildly successful breakout game VALORANT.

With VALORANT having made such a huge splash for Riot Games over the past year, it makes sense that the first-person shooter would get a little extra love. Watch for a rainbow-adorned Pride-specific player card.

That rainbow motif will be found in items that are up for grabs in each of the games.

Riot Games has a long history of supporting the LGBTQ+ community. For the past half-decade it’s teamed up with the It Gets Better organization for events that run throughout Pride Month.

Celebrated across the world!

Celebrated across the world every June, Pride Month started out a tribute to those involved in the Stonewall Riots. Taking place in New York in 1969, the demonstrations were sparked by a violent June 28, 1969 police raid on the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village. Rather than passively take it, patrons of the Villages lesbian and gay bars fought back.

Today there are parades, concerts, and festivals across the globe. At least there are during normal, nonpandemic times. At least you’ve got Riot Games to help you celebrate Pride Month in these most unusual of times.
