The Influencers: Red Bull Gaming’s Kelsie “KayPea” Pelling
Vancouver-born Kelsie Pelling is known as KayPea to her fans. And she has a lot of those. As of this writing, the Red Bull Gaming ESports athlete has precisely 768,719 Twitch followers. That makes her one of the top 25 most-followed League of Legends streamers on the platform.
The LoL mid-laner has been a full-time streamer since 2013. (See, Mom and Dad? You can make a living playing video games.) According to her official Red Bull Gaming bio, KayPea is all about positivity, and “doesn’t focus too much on getting the highest rank”.
While that’s all well and good, don’t be misled. KayPea may not flex much, but her skill shots are lethal. Consider yourself warned.
The first video game I ever played was…
“Mario Kart for N64, and then probably CS 1.6.”
Why I got involved in gaming
“Gaming is obviously very entertaining but I’m just in love with the competition factor. I want to show everyone what I’m capable of and gaming allows me to do that in a lot of ways.”
What I do when I’m not playing
“Not a lot since I spend most of my time gaming, even when not streaming! I mainly just spend time watching series, eating, and sleeping.”
My ESports idol is…
“My boyfriend. He’s been through so many ups and downs throughout his career but he’s so determined and hardworking so it’s really admirable.”
Where will ESports be in five years?
“ESports is only going to get bigger and better, especially with it becoming more mainstream over the years. I’m super excited to see what happens with it!”
